Problem with editing voices
Hello,
Here is a situation which I have encountered all too often. Originally the first bar had only 9 eight notes in 1st voice. Then I deleted the first and 7th note of those. After that I added a dotted half note at the beginning using 2nd voice. Now I try to add a dotted 2nd voice quarter note to the place which is indicated with an arrow at the picture http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v606/lasioc/editingproblem_zpsbb27aad…. Doesn’t succeed. What am I doing wrong or don't know? I have attached this one bar Musescore file so that you can try for yourself.
I had an opportunity to try the same with Sibelius. It was easy, just selected the first note, swithed it to 2nd voice and changed its duration. It would be nice to be able to do likewise in Musescore.

Seems you had deleted the rest in 2nd voice.
To recover, delete the 2nd voice dotted half then the rest and start enterting 2nd voice from scratch
Yes, looks like for some reason you deleted the 2nd voice rest that should have appeared after you entered the dotted half. Don't do that. There is no reason to do so if you're still entering notes, and even if you don't know you will be entering more notes, you're still better off not deleting the rests. Normally, they should be printed, although you might need to move them vertically to avoid overlap. And even in the special musical situations where standard notation rules make it permissible not to print the rests, you should simply mark them invisible rather than deleting them. Deleting them creates "holes" in the time flow that seem to cause MuseScore problems. Perhaps you did it accidentally, but it's worth keeping in mind.
If you do find you've deleted rests (only possible in voices other than 1), you can fix it by running edit / voices / exchange voices 1-2 to swap the voices, then again to set them back.
