Text toolbar not visible
I cannot find the Text toolbar anymore. I am doing a guitar half bar and need 1/2 III indication. I have done it before using this toolbar but cannot find it in the Toolbars menu to check on.
Is it somewhere else?
Thanks

Sorry, I found it. I was expecting it to appear when I edited the III, but I must have just used system text and aligned it.
Is there going to be an improvement so it could be inserted directly?

You can use a custom palette. https://musescore.org/en/handbook/palette#custom-palettes

Can you explain in more detail what symbol you are trying to add? Not sure what a "guitar half bar" is.

Maybe https://musescore.org/en/handbook/fretboard-diagrams, a barre or partial baree
Or the same thing in a tablatur staff. Or as a chord symbol?

No sure why you want use the text toolbar and align the text? It's unuseful by doing this:
1) Select the note where begins the barré
2) In "Lines" palette -> double-click on the text line: VII-----|
3) Right-click on this line -> Line properties -> Change in "Begin/Text" the VII default for ½ III, eg, or, more common, ½CIII, or ½BIII -> Ok
That's all.
If you have already a customized palette, you can add it to avoid to re-create this line each time.
NB: "bar", I guess it's for the user a diminutive for "barré".
See Barré paragraph (grand barré vs. half barré) p.376 in Behind Bars/Gould
Thank you everyone, sorry yes I meant barre.
The problem was, although I can put in 1/2III or whatever, the 1/2 comes out very large, whereas if I use the text toolbar and system text, I get a small 1/2. How do you choose it to be small without using system text?
Thanks again.

"½" is small already, but you want "1/2" in small?
In reply to "½" is small already, but you by Jojo-Schmitz
This is what I get, if I type in 1/2 I get the bigger one. If I use system text for the 1/2 I get the second one on the right. I assume I am doing something wrong.

To get ½: Do: Alt + 171

Or copy/paste the ½ ;-)

Alt + 171 (or Alt + 0189)
