1.3 Download won't open
I have a Macbook pro and I'm running OS X 10.8.5 Mountain Lion. When I downloaded Musescore 1.3, the download works fine, but when I try to open the application, the box pops up saying that it is opening but the program freezes and I have to force quit it every time. I've tried uninstalling and re-downloading several, and even downloading version 1.2, all with the same result. Why isn't this working?

Could you run MuseScore from the terminal and paste the output in a txt file, and attach it to a comment on this topic?
You can run it using the terminal app:
$ /Applications/MuseScore.app/Contents/MacOS/mscore

I tried, but it wouldn't even give me an output. MuseScore just popped up like it was going to open and then just froze and stayed like that. It didn't technically crash, it just won't open, and I have to force quit it every time.

Can you try with
$ /Applications/MuseScore.app/Contents/MacOS/mscore -s
It should start MuseScore without the sound. If MuseScore does start then, there is a problem between MuseScore and your sound system.

That seemed to have done it. It opened no problem when I did it that way. Is there a way I can make it open like that every time I want to use the program? Or I will I have to go through terminal every time? Because I tried opening it like normal after I did it through terminal without sound and it went back to freezing.

However, when I open it that way it won't play the score. There's no sound. Any way around that?

If MuseScore starts with -s then there is a problem with MuseScore and your system. Do you have any external soundcard or a special device?

I don't know if this would make a difference, but I run Pro Tools 8 LE on my computer. I have to use a DigiDesign mbox 2, which I don't actually have yet, but I have the software installed that makes it able to run. Would that make any difference? Other than that, there's nothing different about my computer as far as sound goes.

@srh11 so have you Digidesign MME Refresh Service running on your computer?

srh11 is on a Mac. The DigiDesign issue is with Windows, isn't it?

Hey Jojo, I assume we will need to update the software incompatibilities page since it's not the same issue: http://musescore.org/en/handbook/known-incompatibilities
What do you think?

Possibly.
