So are you talking about harmonics? There are different style of notation for this, most involve using different noteheads, so see the Noteheads palette. Unless you can find a soundfont that includes these sounds, however, MuseScore won't be able to play those sounds specially.
If you need further assistance, please describe exactly the effect you are trying to achieve.
By using the note head "diamond" from the pallet "noteheads" (https://musescore.org/en/handbook/noteheads-0)?
If you are simply trying to put the circle above the note, it is located in the advanced palette under Articulations & Ornaments.

The problem with the diamond notehead is that it's filled in while usually flageoloets are empty (even quavers). The so-called "Ouverts" from the "Articulations & Ornaments" are a temporary fix, however I'd prefer the empty diamonds.

You can force a hollow half-note / minim style notehead using the Inspector.
