What I want to do is make it sound like the second picture, if it's not clear.

1) Select the whole 8va line.
2) Press the "Caps" key and, at the same time" the left arrow key, to move the line end to the note you want the 8va effect ends.

Sorry!!! I just put what my Spanish keyboard looks and I forgot it is different in English. Sorry, again!!!
Just mark the notes you want to do it on, and double-click on the 8va-thing (look at my pic)

That is the best way to apply any line, pedal, ottava... Put it where you really want to to begin with.
