New version reminder

This is certainly a very minor issue. But nonetheless it has begun to annoy me mildly.

I run version 2 because my computer is too old to handle the new version 3 (I'd love to use it obviously!). Every time I start up I get the message that "a new version is available". If that happens on a near daily basis it is annoying. Couldn't one program this thing in such a way that it abandons the messages when they were shown 3 times and only occasionally displays them again (say every three months)?

I promise: The second I get a new computer I'll install the new version--wether I get reminders or not.
