How do I change the tempo in Musescore 3?
I made a new score and set the tempo at 120. I later wanted to change that tempo, but I don't know how to do that, and the tempo selections in the palettes aren't... "flexible" enough, I guess. I want to know how to do something like specifically change the tempo from 120 to 130.
Before you ask, I am using the advanced workspace (I think that's what it's called).

Thank you.
Change The Tempo
View Tab (it's up near the top) / check the box Play panel and it will appear bottom right/ move the slider in the Play Panel up or down.

But - this isn't really correct. It's a way to temporarily override the tempo - play the piece slower or faster than it was actually written, just for now. It goes back to actual written tempo next time you (or anyone else) load the score. To actually change the tempo for real, you should simply edit the tempo text itself to specify the desired tempo. Or add a tempo text if you didn't already.

actually it is impossible to change tempo at all, just nothing happens when i try to write a tempo text.. i guess it´s a bug

I doubt that. Did you read the above mentioned handbook page?

I suspect you didn't add tempo text, but some other type like staff text. Either that or you didn't set the desired bpm value in the Inspector, for tempo texts that don't include the value in the text itself.
If you continue to have trouble after reading that handbook section, please attach your score so we can understand and assist better.

Hi,
I am having the same problem with changing tempo. I have read through the links above and I think I have done every thing correctly. I know I have changed tempo before but it may have been in a much earlier version.
I am running
OS: Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.6.2.548021370, revision: 3224f34
as an appimage.
No matter what I set the tempo text or the tempo in the inspector to, it plays at 120bpm. If inspect the Play panel it changes the tempo % to be at 120 automatically and cannot change the play panel settings. This may be specific to app images, not sure.
Any way, I have attached a simple score that show the issue. The tempo text was created by MuseScore because I specified tempo at 110bpm during the creation of the score.
Do I need to install instead of running as an app image?
Also, I am using Jack if that matters.
Thanks!

JACK may indeed be the culprit, you might have another program specified as the timbease master. Don't do that if you want MuseScore to control the tempo.
Anyhow, your score plays back as expected for me, and I'm also running the AppImnage - the supported way to run MsueScore on Linux.

You are correct. I shut everything down and I can edit the tempo now even with jack running just no other audio apps running. I think Ardour was controlling the tempo.
Thanks for the quick reply.

In Version 4, go to Add, then Text, then Tempo Marking (shortcut is alt shift T)
