3.6 crashing on initiating
Just installed the 15 jan upgrade of 3.6, which just crashes immediately. I tried to follow some of the links on this problem but failed to resolve it. Do you advise waiting till upgrade end of week (3.61)?

Not sure what you tried, but the solution should be to reboot then re-run the installer, either choosing to repair or uninstall/reinstall.
