When entering piano fingering, mouse jumps from selected note to finger number. Awkward.

When I score for piano, I enter a lot of fingering notation. If I try to select a note in canvas using touch, it moves the note a lot of times, so I use the mouse to select a note, and my finger to select the fingering number. When I do this, the mouse pointer moves to the fingering palette. To select the next note, I need to move the pointer across the palette which slows me down significantly.
Another suggestion: Allow me to use the arrow keys to step through notes and allow me to tap the fingering number. The problem is once the number is on the score, the number is selected, and I can't find a way to reselect the note so I can step to the next note. So, I need to use the mouse to select the next note. Awkward!

I think a reasonable fix for this is when fingering is selected, leave the note selection (and mouse pointer position) on the selected note. Then I can use arrow keys to cycle through the notes.
