Musescore reset itself to factory settings

Musescore 3 reverted to factory settings out of the blue. I was using the program a couple of hours ago, everything worked as usual. I took a small break and when I started Musescore again it had deleted all my scores, settings and custom preferences. Now every time I close and start the program it reverts to factory settings again. How can I fix this?
