maximum number of measures per line
I'm a newbie, so pardon a (probably) dumb question: How can I restrict the score to only four measures per line, expanding the sizes of everything so that it all looks reasonably good? Thank you!

Welcome! You can insert line breaks manually or with the automatic tool . And there's no such thing as a dumb question. ;-)

Not to mention the Handbook (see link on the right), where I got those answers from! You're very welcome. On a related note, if at some point you want to contract your music to fit more measures on a line, you'd need to reduce stretch .
