Unable to edit sheets after leaving the editor open for a while.
I leave the editing software from musescore open in the background a lot. Ever since I switched to musescore 3, the program just renders me unable to do anything if I leave it open for more than an hour.
The program is still responsive, I can load sheets and so on. But I can not edit anything nor playback. I can't click on notes...etc. The only remedy is closing the software and restarting, which is really really annoying if I have to do it multiple times a day. Is this a known issue?

Is this a known issue?
OK... it's known to you.
Please explain what OS (operating system) you're running, the version of MuseScore 3 use (menu item: Help -> About).
Information like this is useful because your issue is not one ecountered by every user.
(If it were, then these forum pages would already be buzzing with activity concerning it.)
Also, any other software (especially audio) that you may be running concurrently.

OS: Windows 10 (10.0), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.2.3.7635,

The only software remotely audio related running in the background every time this issue occurs is discord.

In case of interference with other programs, esp. on Windows, go into your soundcard configuration from Control Panel and ensure that the Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device in the Advanced tab of both Playback and Recording is unticked.

I would agree that that could be the cause of the problem. But I can't edit the sheet I am working with either, its not just me not hearing the notes. It's the program that won't play the sheet at all, nor allowing me to edit a sheet.

First thing I did, it did not resolve the problem unfortunately

You posted version 3.2.3 as shown above.
Current version is 3.5.2
Do you give it a generous amount of time to respond? It's possible that when you click the operating system is working in the background to get the proper part of the program loaded and the correct memory pages selected so it can respond to what you are asking it to do after it has been idle for a while. I experience similar things on my old computer. There comes a time that the delay is too long, so I restart the computer and the problem is fixed.

Well yes, sometimes it takes a while to continue. but I have never had these issues with the original musescore or musescore 2. It seems to be specific to 3. And the annoyance of having to restart is exactly what I want to avoid :)

How many backup copies have accumulated?
Maybe try with https://musescore.org/en/handbook/revert-factory-settings ?

I restart my computer about once a week so this isn't a constant thing I would expect to be required.
I've never heard of anything like this and can't imagine anything within MuseScore - as opposed to other processes on your system that could cause it. Can you create a screen capture video so we can see and understand better?
