Joining Measures Issue
Whenever I join measures, this blue plus sign appears and doesn't go away, and there's no option to remove it. How exactly should I remove this?

The blue plus sign means that there are too many beats in that measure.

Not necessarily too many but certainly more than the actual duration.

I joined the measures to fit the triplet across the measure boundary
As mentioned, it's an onscreen reminder. Kind of like how frames have an onscreen representation of the border, or system breaks show an onscreen icon. None of these print or export to PDF or show when shared to musescore.com. But if you wish to hide them even onscreen, turn off display of unprintable elements in the View menu

That was the joining measures, I put them together and then added a bar line in the middle, thus creating the problem I posted about
Perhaps the technique of combining half duration tuplets on each side of the (then real) barline can be of value to you as well.
