MuseScore 4 Crashes When I Add Chord in Final Meausure
Hello-
Every time I add a Cmaj7 chord to the final measure of this score (#62) MuseScore crashes. I enter the chord by selecting the top whole note in the treble clef and press Cmd + K. I enter the chord and press space and then the program crashes. This is repeatable on my system.
I have uploaded a screenshot of the error, diagnostics files and my score. I wonder if the score is now corrupted as I am having trouble with playback and cannot get the repeats to work properly, but I will open up another topic for that matter.
Machine specs and MuseScore 4 info below:
Machine: Apple Mac Studio with M1 Max processor OS: macOS 13.2.1, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 4.0.2-230651546, revision: dbe7c6d
NOTE: I own the printed copy of this score and have entered it into MuseScore for export to MIDI so I can play along with Stream Lights on my Clavinova CSP-170 for my own personal use.
I understand that support is delivered by the community and will be very appreciative of any assistance offered. :-)

I did not get the crash upon pressing the Enter key (return) after typing the Cmaj7 chord symbol.
I did get the crash one time upon pressing the spacebar after typing the Cmaj7 chord symbol, but I could not reproduce.
Here's your score with the final Cmaj7 chord entered:

Look at the Volta properties to see what I changed to get the repeats to work. Additionally, the 'Play count' of the volta 1 measure (with the end repeat barline) should be set to 2.
See:
https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/voltas
for info. on "Repeats list".
and:
https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/measure-properties
for "Play count".

Thanks for verifying the crash. It's good to know it's not unique to my system. I'm also relieved that my file is not corrupt. Also, a big thank you for fixing playback! What a nice bonus. :-D
The song now plays as I expected. As I understand music notation measure #44 is supposed to play ONCE--and correctly does--but when I inspect the measure properties Play count: is set for TWO. The necessary settings are confusing me.
I want to understand the logic. I read this section of the manual (several times) and also looked at several forum posts on voltas and measure properties and remain perplexed. I want to understand how this functionality works better and offer to assist with re-writing these sections in the manual so they are more clear and reduce the number of posts on this topic.
It appears that I'm not the only one struggling with how to get playback properly working with repeats and voltas. Please don't infer an unfortunate tone into any of this as I truly want to understand and help others. :-)

Welcome aboard...you wrote:

Understood. The "play count" and number of times played (i.e., sounded) may differ because the number shown in "play count" is a number used internally to keep track of complex voltas/repeats.

Okay, the manual is a wiki to which users can add, delete, revise content.
When it comes to 'Play count' - specifically when dealing with voltas - the handbook for MuseScore 3 might be more informative:
https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/voltas#Play_count
especially where it says: "The play count of the measure with the end repeat barline must be set one higher than the number of times you want the measure to play (this is usually equal to the number of entries in that volta repeat list + 1)."
So...
Voltas differ from simple repeats as they are alternate endings and use a different "counting" method.
For a simple repeat (no volta) the "play count' is automatically set to 2 in measure properties whenever an end repeat barline is added to the score.
For example...
Make a new score, enter 4 measures, add a right (end) repeat sign (barline) and those 4 measures will automatically play twice.
If those 4 measures are a vamp played during a singer's band introduction patter, the "play count" can be increased, say to 8, which will play those 4 measures 8 times, giving the singer time to ramble on. So, in this case the "play count" and the number of times those 4 measures play will coincide.
[BTW: Those 4 measures can appear in the middle of the score but would require a left (start) repeat barline in addition to the right (end) repeat barline to explicitly designate those 4 measures within the score.]
I want to understand how this functionality works better....
Muhaha!!ha!!
To see MuseScore in action with regards to jumps and repeats, have a look/listen at this:

Of course, that is not to be taken as serious notation... ;-)
