Mixer view does not return to normal when closing in MS4

• May 17, 2023 - 19:35

Sorry if this was already reported in the past. I did not locate any post about it.

In MS 3.6, when I open the mixer, the Mixer menu overlays on top of the score. I can then change things. When I close the mixer, the menu goes away & the screen view returns to normal, with the score fully visible and ready to work on.

Before mixer:

With Mixer open:

After Mixer menu closes. Scene returns to "Normal":

In MS4, when I open the mixer, make changes, then close it, the overlay simply turns to black with a keyboard. The score remains almost fully obscured and is NOT ready to work on. Rather, I have to grab edges of the now black menu, drag things around and finally return the view to normal. See below for an example:

  1. Screenshot 3 - the score before the mixer is opened:

  2. Screenshot 4 - the score when the mixer menu is open and overlaid onto the score

  3. Screenshot 5 - the score after the mixer is closed. Notice that the view of the score is almost obscured. I have to click on the scene, locate the edges of the now black menu, & drag things down to restore my screen to a workable view.

This should not be. The view should simply return to "normal", as done in MS 3.6. Please fix. Thanks

I can confirm that if you have the piano keyboard window open at the time you open the mixer, then indeed, the piano keyboard window gets resized along with the mixer and doesn't return to its previous size. I can also confirm this is still true in current nightly builds. Please report this on GitHub. But note - it's not that the mixer isn't returning, it's the piano keyboard window that isn't returning to its former size.

BTW, the same was true in MU3, if the mixer was docked along with another panel - that other panel would also increase in size to accommodate the size of the mixer, and stay that size when the mixer is closed. In MU3, it was the Inspector that would be docked with the mixer by default; in MU4, it's the piano keyboard. but same basic issue either way.
