Thank you for your reply. I didn't ask what application converts PDFs to native .mscz files. but thank you anyway.
The correct answer to my question, which I discovered later --but I couldn't find a way to get to my posted message!-- is using "Import PDF" from the File menu. However, doing that 1) takes eons and 2) the resulted .mscx file really sucks!
As for Audiveris, I just checked it and its tooo complicated (Java environment and all that stuff). So, it's not a solution. I will look for something else. Thanks, again
I see. Well, the best "free" solution I have at the moment is to play PDF scores is with PlayScore 2. (It can also export to MIDI and MusicXML, which are both accepted by MuseScore 4, although there's not much gain with that.)

You first need to convert it into a MuseScore file.
Best by entering it by hand, alternative is using some OMR software, like e.g. Audiveris

That is sending the score to an OMR, and indeed to Audivers... (in an older version, and one you can't tweak any settings on for better results)

If your template is not very good, the score will not be good either - regardless of the software you use. However, there may be slight differences...
