Hello,
I've had this problem and one fix was to rename the file.mscz to file.zip, then open it up and extract the contents and try launching that. You should recover most of your work if it was the zip part of the file that was corrupt. If this doesn't work keep looking for suggestions. Regards...….

The time signature was deleted in this score, hence the corruption (there was a few issues related to the removal of time signatures in the 2.0.3 version and previous)
So, please update the version, and anyway, a deletion of a time signature is never a good idea (you may eg, if wished, hide this time signature via the Staff properties. Alternatively, made invisible, depending the context)
See the repaired file (please check): Scaborough fair1.mscz

In the case of this file, the How To to is simply unuseful.
Above all, this requires extra work.

Then this extra work should get added to that howto.

Copy-paste in a new file the good part! If the score let's say contains 20 pages, rather forget...
And again, the better advice is to update for avoid this case.
