New feature - bis
In my score I have 2 bars that I'd like to repeat rather than write them out - the 'bis' repeat would be ideal for this (please see the attached file). I tried various combinations of repeats and none of them worked. I also tried customising various lines - again without success.

What is wrong about using regular repeat barlines, |: ... :| ?
In reply to What is wrong about using… by Jojo-Schmitz
1) this will break up the A-B nature of the tune parts (check the sample I sent)
2) also on reaching the end of the B part I want to go back to the start of bis section
The bis section is a device to avoid having to repeat 2 bars in the written score.
So repeat bars don't work.

What is the desired playback then? Repeat these 2 measures ad lib.?

It is common in traditional music for a tune to split into 2 parts - A and B - where each part is played through twice in a performance - 2 As then 2 Bs - then the whole tune can be played again starting from the beginning of the A part.
Looking at the score I attached previously - the A part starts at bar #1 and ends at bar #4, the B part starts at bar #5 in the score, and continues to bar #10.
As written the B part comprises of 6 bars - first 2 bars (bars #5 and #6) are repeated, then the final 4 bars (bars #7 to #10) are played once - so it is played as 2+2+4 bars - thats a total of 8 bars. The the whole B part is repeated from bar #5 as described above.
This arrangement is not unusual in traditional music. To use regular repeat bars and other repeats may work, but it becomes messy, difficult to convey meaning, and to read. Far easier with the bis-style of repeat - which is what traditional musicians are used to seeing.

So A, A, B1, B1, B2, B1, B1, B2?
|: A :|(Segno)|:B1:|B2 (D.S. with repeats)
In reply to So A, A, B1, B1, B2, B1, B1,… by Jojo-Schmitz
Not quite
Lets assume
A = bars 1-4
B1 = bars 5-6
B2 = bars 7-10
the tune is played
A A B1 B1 B2 B1 B1 B2

Exactly how my score plays it and I described it

Oh yes - sorry.
I played this through - that works great.
Many thanks for your help!! Really very much appreciated!!

I tried your segno/DS solution in another tune - and it plays
A A B1 B1 B2 B1 B2
That is the B1 isnt repeated second time through.
Any ideas what's wrong?

on the D.S. you need to enable "With repeats" in Inspector

Wow - thanks!
That was easily missed and not obvious.
All now seems to work fine.
Many thanks for your help!

Probably better add a " con rep." to the "D.S."
