I count about 11 steps to invoke playback of pizzicato. And another 11 to go back to arco. Are there any keyboard shortcuts to help with this?

Are you using version 3.3.2? It's one step to pizz and one step to arco. Apply the text from the text palette and everything else is automatic as long as the instrument is properly set up.

The handbook describes the general method, those pizz. and acro texts are there for convenience.
Still the handbook should get updated to mention that
Even if they hadn't been on the palette already, you can customzie your palette easily. Set up some text or other element on your score the way you want it, then Ctrl+Shift+drag it to your palette - now you never have to do that customization again.

Thanks Marc. On your suggestion, I figured out how to do this in an existing and new work space. Not sure what I'll use this for yet.
