Musescore makes no sound come from the headphones for the entire computer when started
When I open musescore, all sound just cuts off. Not just for musescore but for every single app. Only for headphones though, the sound does come through the speakers when I remove the headset.
After I close Musescore, the sound doesn't come back either. I need to restart (and clicking restart sometimes doesn't work too so shut down and re-open) the computer to get the sound again.
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing, uninstalling and re-installing into a different location, restarting the background audio process so pretty sure it isn't about the synthesizers at this point.
What I've noticed is that the sound cuts off when the banner thing is shown before the app itself opens. A couple of times it didn't cut off the sound and that was nice but it generally does.
Thanks for helping and sorry if the solution is obvious. (Windows 8.1, the latest and the couple of versions before the latest version of Musescore)

If it is not just MuseScore, then how is uninstalling/reinstalling it supposed to help?
Better check/update your audio drivers.

I have already updated the audio drivers. But since only MuseScore causes this total cut-off I had thought it was about MuseScore. Plus, the audio drivers shouldn't be the issue. The problem didn't start when I updated my audio drivers. I reinstalled it because I thought might have gotten corrupted.

Ah, I see.
ISTR other reports of MuseScore monopolizing the audio driver and driver updates as a cure to that

This appears to be working right now, I don't know how I didn't encounter this before. Sorry for the trouble and thank you.
