How come you have to pay to use the MuseScore App whereas MusScore is gnu gpl ?
Surely the MuseScore App is violation of the Terms of GNU GPL from which the App derives?

The mobile apps are not being dealt with here on musescore.org, but exclusively over on musescore.com.
And having to pay for something would surely not violate GNU GPL.
On top of the aforementioned things.
GNU GPL would prevent release of an App Store app; but to that end the MuseScore source code is dual licensed (via a CLA) and since the mobile apps build from the proprietary license they are as such in no violations whatsoever.
To be clear: MuseScore =- the open source notation program - is free and always will be. The mobile app you can pay for is separate. It shares some code with the notation program, and that portion of the code is free and open source, as required by the license agreement.
