How to reduce staff distance between parts
I have downloaded a score created by someone else and I am trying to alter the staff distance between parts.
I can't seem to find where I can alter the staff distance all the parts are widely separated.
In page view, it corrects after the first page, but in continuous view they stay separated by large amounts.

The problem is in measure 12. Select it (full top to bottom), hit Ctrl+R
Seems something had been pulled far away from the staves it belongs to
No idea why it grew that much on that operation, about 2-fold?

The hairpins "above" the stave are actually from the staff above and dragged downwards. They were also only stretched visually sideways and start at the same position as the dynamic instead of right after it.

Yes, that's what I said, but thanks for confirming, and adding tnat it was a hairpin.
My question though is why my repair operation doubled in size?

The difference is in the thumbnail.
In the first score, the first page is virtually empty which results in a very compressed thumbnail (1,99kB). In the 2nd one, there are now two systems on that first page, way less of a big white plain resulting in a thumbnail of about 19kB
