Thanks for reply, won’t doing as you say just put key signature in the first measure. I am trying to put it between the clef and the time signature which is how it appears in sheet music. Only a beginner to learning piano etc.

To be clear: yes, following the instructions given does exactly the correct thing: it applies the new key signature starting there at the first measure and continuing to the end of the piece (or the next key signature change if one exists somewhere else within the score). nd yes, MuseScore knows that key signatures go between the clef and time signature. Try it, you'll see, it works perfectly exactly as described.
