Slide out at end of measure
The duration of a glissando is taken from the starting note. Is that also true of a slide out, as in the following measure? Will that C (this is bass clef and tab for bass guitar) be held for the dotted half, followed by a slide out in the last eight-note duration at the end of the measure? IOW, pitch will drop starting at the beginning of the eighth note and ending at the end of the measure. I guess this is more of a music theory question rather than a MuseScore question. This is transcribed from the measure at the 1:24 mark in this isolated bass track for "Go."

I indeed would expect the slide out to only start at the start of the 2nd note of the tie.
If it had to happen over the full note, I'd have expected it to be written as a half note with slide out instead.

Thanks for your reply. I've probably gone through half-a-dozen versions of this. The slide out has an indistinct end note, but I originally wanted to specify the end note with a glissando mark between two notes, but then I'd have to put that end note at the beginning of the next measure, which would look odd, IMO, and I'd have to specify a duration, which it doesn't really have--it's just where the slide ends, it's not really voiced as a distinct note. Surely there is a way to represent that, but I can't think of any.

The trick I usually resort to is to enter a "grace note after", gliss to that and mark the note invisible.

Ah, I've wondered whether a grace note could be involved. And I've tried hiding the glissando end note, but then you lose exactly where to end the slide because the glissando line peters out before that note--it's ambiguous. It's a shame there is no way to express this simple thing in musical notation. A slide out, like what I originally posted, seems to be as close as I can get.

If you want the pitch indication there, then the grace note after could be set to stemless and small.
